Should you try the Bellamianta Ultra Dark Tan?

Happy Sunday guys,

So you may want to make a cup of tea, as I have a feeling this is going to be a long one! A few months ago I had given up on so called ‘luxury tans’. I thought to myself that surely a £6 bottle of a cheaper tan is going to do the exact same job and over the space of a year, I was probably wasting lots of money. After a good two years or more of using Bellamianta, I was always curious of other tans, particularly as I am so interested in beauty products. My Mum is always changing her tan, always trying a new one and it got me thinking that maybe I should to do the same. What harm could it do? So for a while I bought a cheaper alternative that I was so surprised about. That tan had a gorgeous colour and faded really well when I looked after it correctly. However, I did notice immediately that it had that dreaded tan smell that Bellamianta didn’t. I turned a blind eye to it since after all, it was £6. After a few uses I also realised my bed sheets were covered in tan. I am a bit of a clean freak and that really bothered me. Bellamianta didn’t cause me that problem.

Since I do the Bellamianta Spray Tan, I get marketing emails regularly. I knew that there was a new tan being released and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I quickly realised that the other £10 that I had been complaining about paying, was for the quality of the tan. After all it is a ‘luxury tan’. So, I used up any other tanning products I had in the house, which included Liquid Gold from Bellamianta, all in preparation for buying the new tan.

This week was when I finally got my hands on it. So before I tell you about the tan, I thought I would tell you how I prepare my skin. There are lots of people who give you different advice and like the skin on your face, the skin on your body is so different to everyone else’s. The key is finding what works for you.

My skin would be on dry, especially on my chest, upper arms, knees and feet. These are the areas that will go super dark or patchy when I apply tan. My upper arms are really dry and I’m not sure I will ever get tan to sit correctly on them, but I have methods of making it look as best as it can.

Firstly, maintaining a tan is a full time job. There is no point in blaming the tan for wearing off badly. If you aren’t going to exfoliate before you put your tan on and moisturise every day, then of course it is going to wear off badly. I like most of us, know days in advance when I am going to tan. To prepare for these days, I moisturise every day. For any of you who say you don’t have time, yes you do. It takes a 30 seconds, make it a part of your morning routine. The day before tanning, I shave so that the skin isn’t irritated the next day. On the day I am going to tan I exfoliate any excess tan off my skin and I moisturise, paying particular attention to the areas that I know tan will cling to. I wait about an hour after my shower (honestly it works) and then I apply my tan. Another crucial step that I often have skipped is washing it off the next day. This is so important as even though it might look ok for a day or two, the days after that will look awful. It takes a couple of minutes to hop in the shower and wash it off, (I was up at 6am yesterday morning for a bridal party and I still found two minutes to shower). ALWAYS  pat your skin dry- never rub, moisturising immediately. It is so important every day after this to moisturise!

Now don’t get me wrong, there are times I am lazy and boy does my tan suffer for it. A few weeks ago I had to apologise to every makeup client who looked near my arms. They were awful looking but it was my own fault, not the tan I was using!

So, this leads me onto the Product Review. The packaging of the Ultra Dark is sleek and the bottle feels luxurious with the nozzle strong and easy to use. It doesn’t require you to shake the bottle as the mousse is ready to go. The immediate olive colour is beautiful. I instantly thought of my Mum as she loves a darker tan and I know she will love this one. By the time I had finished applying the tan it honestly looked perfect, I could have headed out with it on and not worried about it looking like I had just applied it. One of the things that caught my eye on the packaging was that it contains hyaluronic acid and natural moisturisers which hydrate the skin. BINGO, just what I need and perfect for anyone with dry skin. It is quick drying and only slightly sticky for a few minutes. I only noticed a slight mark on my bedsheets and  not anything like other tans I had used recently. The smell was also more pleasant and I honestly could not have been more delighted with it.

The next morning, I showered and although it seems like you wash a lot of tan off by the time I had dried my skin and moisturised I was left with a perfect tan. When I say perfect, I literally mean perfect. I have never been more happier with a self tan in my life.

The tan is free from parabens and alcohol, it is kind to skin, not tested on animals and suitable for vegans. Using only a premium grade DHA, it is of the highest standard.

So for anyone like me who wears a tan all the time and loves a good quality tan- this is perfect for you. For anyone who has a special occasion coming up and would like to try a new tan, I highly recommend this one!

It will take a couple of minutes out of your day, to ensure that it wears off evenly. If you don’t put the effort in, it will fade badly. The only difference with a cheaper tan is that it might wash off quicker. With Bellamianta, you are paying for longer lasting tan.

Will you love the tan? I hope so! It’s up to you to make sure your base, just like when applying makeup is ready. Take the steps to ensure your skin is in tip top condition and give the Ultra Dark tan a go!

I have done a full circle back to Bellamianta, after daring to step out of my comfort zone (I should have known better!) Well I’m back and I am their number one fan.

I purchased the Ultra Dark for £19.99 (worth every penny)

Just a reminder that I do the full body spray tan at my home salon for £15.

Before I forget, have you tried any of the Collection Intense Shine lipsticks? If not, head into Superdrug or Boots and for £3.99 you will not be disappointed.

Have a great day

Love, Sarah
