Hey everyone, this post is one I have been so excited to write. Before you say it, yes I am weird that I get so excited over skincare right? To be fair, skincare is something I have a huge interest in. I’m one of those people who will sit with a magnifying mirror, searching my face for any signs of ageing. It honestly bothered me that I wasn’t 100% sure if I was using the correct cleansers, serums and moisturisers.
On Instagram, one of the main topics I am regularly asked about is skincare. I always advise people to speak to a skincare specialist, as the worst thing that I could do would be to recommend products that I have no idea will work for your skin. Everyone is so different and I will never advise anyone over a phone what to buy, especially when I can’t see your skin. I am also not a specialist (although I would love to be).
After months of thinking about it, I thought long and hard about which brand to invest in. I would consider myself quite a wise spender when it comes to money and I would never spend so much on skincare. But, as I edge closer to 30, I wanted the peace of mind in knowing I am looking after my skin as best I can.
I booked a facial with Ivy in Papillio Armagh, with the intention of finding out exactly what I needed for my skin. The facial will be two weeks ago tomorrow and the reason why I waited so long to write the post, was because I wanted to really test the products before I spoke about them. Ivy is extremely knowledgeable. She asked me lots of questions and made sure to tailor the facial to suit my skin type.
For any of you who don’t know, I have very oily skin. My t-zone is my problem area and I would go through stages of being on top of it and having very few pimples and then other stages were it would really get me down. I wanted to be more confident about my skin especially in the industry I am in, as people are paying close attention to my makeup.
Ivy was brilliant at advising me what I should buy. She didn’t oversell anything or push me into buying lots of different products, which I was pleased to see. The products below are what I decided to buy. I will go through each one and please bare in mind that these products are suited to me and you may need something completely different.
First up is this amazing cleanser. Every morning and evening I make sure my skin is clean and then cleanse using this salicylic based cleanser. It gently removes makeup, exfoliates dead skin cells and eliminates excess oil. My skin took about four days to adjust to this, as it did cause it to dry up. For the first few days I only used it once a day and then built it up to twice a day. My skin always feels super clean after using this!
One of the most exciting products that I couldn’t wait to try was this- The Iluma Intense Lightening Serum. This is a product that I see mentioned quite a bit on Instagram and Snapchat. It claims to correct skin tone promoting a clear, fresh looking complexion. It is lightweight and oil free and contains lots of gorgeous ingredients including Vitamin C. I absolutely love this product and it does exactly what it says on the box.
In the morning time I use the daily matte moisturiser with SPF 32+. This has quite a runny consistency and is quickly absorbed into the skin. It is so important to wear an SPF all year round and this one provides a matte, shine free finish which is the perfect base for makeup.
The last product I purchased was the Restoring Serum. I use this serum at night after cleansing, patting it onto my skin to absorb surface oils. The main reason I love this product is because it contains Vitamin B6 which works overnight to restore skin’s overall healthy balance.
It sounds like a lot, but it takes me a couple of minutes in the morning and again in the evening. I wanted a quick and simple routine. The main difference I have noticed is that I no longer get oily throughout the day. My face stays matte the whole day and I never have any oil breaking through my makeup, which is absolutely unbelievable. The pores on my cheeks were quite enlarged before using these products and they have reduced in size and are a lot less noticeable which is brilliant.
I have had a lot of people commenting on how healthy my skin looks and this routine honestly makes my makeup sit so much better.
I could not recommend this skincare brand more. I am so delighted that I finally am using it and I honestly wish that I had started it months ago. Usually I regret spending money (super saver over here), but I am so happy with my skin that it is worth every penny. For the past few months I put away money every week and then it didn’t seem as though I was spending as much. If you started now you could treat yourself at Christmas. You only use a tiny amount of each product, so I can’t imagine you would need to buy them too often, possibly 2-3 times a year.
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and thank you so much for taking the time to read it,
