My skin saviour- a product which has transformed my skin!

Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of posts for the past couple of weeks. I have been super busy as well as not feeling 100% some days, so the blog and all my social media got neglected a bit.

We all know that hormones play havoc with our skin and by goodness pregnancy has completely changed mine. The transition from oily skin to dry skin had me a bit frustrated.

After weeks and weeks of trying to rectify the issue, I decided to try this product. I wish I had bought it sooner, but I was a bit hesitant to try it if I’m honest.

In the space of 5 or 6 days, my skin had honestly never looked better. I am always asking my hubby to feel my forehead which may sound so incredibly stupid to some of you, but I have always had texture on my forehead and then it was extremely dry. Every morning it looked as though I had burnt my face and it was peeling off. Over Christmas I remember it starting to get particularly bad and from then on the only thing that has massively helped has been the Ella & Jo 3 in 1 Hyaluronic Skin Mist.

This was created by Charlene Flanagan (a makeup artist who I have followed on Instagram for a very long time) and Niamh Ryan who is also a makeup artist. They have created a product which hydrates, plumps and sets makeup. With beautiful ingredients such as witch hazel, green tea and aloe vera added, the formula conditions dry skin perfectly.

Personally, I apply it in the morning before my moisturiser and at night after cleansing and before my night time moisturiser. I also spray a quick spritz of it over my makeup when I apply it to set.

I also hold it closer to my face when I’ve no makeup on and further away when I do have makeup. After trying it a couple of different ways, I’ve found that to be the most effective.

My skin literally feels as soft as a babies bottom and I count this to be the reason why. It did take a few days for me to notice any results but the results have been long lasting and consistent.

You also can use this for any skin type to add a layer of hydration! So, those of you with oily or normal skin can use it too! Hyaluronic acid has long been known for being a hero ingredient in anti ageing skin care too.

You can purchase directly from ellaandjo.com as seen from the screenshot of the website above. My delivery came super fast and with no issues.

If you give this a try I would love to hear what you thought! In my personal opinion, everyone needs this in their life and I rate it 10/10.

Thanks so much for reading my blog and if you didn’t see my video on this product on Instagram, then check it out in my highlights section.

The perfect lip colour for Spring & Summer

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a great day and looking forward to more good weather returning soon. When the sun is out everyone is in such a good mood. Everything is lighter and brighter and this includes everything from our clothes, nail colours and makeup choices. A pop of colour is often a must have and a great way to do this, is through you’re lipstick.

It can be so hard to know what colour to choose. With that being said, even if you are very fair or have a more darker complexion, you are really going to love this lipstick that I have added to my kit. This colour is truly beautiful on everyone- if you like colour of course!

If you follow me on Instagram, you will know I am a huge fan of the Huda Beauty Demi Matte lipsticks. The formula is really comfortable to wear with a high pigment that applies evenly. They are hydrating, have a slight sheen to them and are long lasting. If you prefer a matte finish, Huda Beauty also have Matte lipsticks for you to try.

The latest shade I purchased is called ‘Game Changer.’

These lipsticks are available in Brown Thomas, Dublin or alternatively can be purchased online on cultbeauty.com too. They retail for £18 and are absolutely worth every penny.

I highly recommend these if you are in the market for a new lippie. Let me know what you think if you buy one. The shades are beautiful and I am already eyeing up my next one!

Love, Sarah

My Favourite Cleansers that are long lasting and are only £25.

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog. An extremely important part of makeup is surprisingly enough, taking it off. We only get one face after all and it is solely our responsibility to take care of it. We have all been 17 or 18 and left our makeup on from the night before. It’s almost like a right of passage isn’t it? But believe it or not, from age 24 our skin is beginning to mature. Of course the odd night here or there of not removing our makeup isn’t going to cause any dramatic changes, but it is important to develop good habits from an early age.

As I am only 28 years old, I thankfully have great skin in terms of fine lines and wrinkles- resting bitch face helps this haha. Though in all honesty, I don’t frown when speaking which I do believe helps. Over the years I have tried and tested lots of ‘drugstore’ cleansers. As I get older these do worry me as I wonder if something at £3/£4 is actually doing my skin any good. However, I don’t want to spend £50 on one product.

A few months ago I began using Alpha-H and I believe these are a great product at a reasonable price. My skin used to be oily but now is more normal/dry with a slightly oily forehead. I haven’t changed my cleanser as I absolutely love the one I am using. It is technically for normal/combination skin and my goodness I love it. After months the bottle still feels quite full which is brilliant. It in no way irritates my skin and feels so silky when applying. I always remove my makeup first with a facecloth or cleansing mitt and then do a deeper clean with the cleanser. It is highly recommended for spot prone skin so it’s definitely worth a try.

The product itself is very soothing and leaves your face absolutely spotless. My face never feels tight or dehydrated after using this which is so important. I purchased mine for £25 off Beauty Bay.

They have another cleanser which is a ‘Balancing Cleanser’ that is suitable for all skin types and as with the other cleanser, will leave your skin hydrated and completely free of excess oil and makeup.

I highly recommend the Alpha-H brand as a whole. Their full range of products are absolutely amazing, especially their moisturisers too.

Let me know if you give the cleanser a go and what you think of it.

My opinion of the Primark Glow Setting Spray- Is it worth it?

Hey, I hope you are all having a lovely day. A question I am frequently getting asked is about setting sprays and do I use them? On myself on a daily basis, unless I feel as though I have applied too much powder then no, I don’t. In saying that, I know my makeup will not budge all day. On clients, I always apply a setting spray. This is because it may be the first time doing their makeup and it can be hard to judge their skin. Setting spray is a great way of ensuring I have done my absolute best to make your makeup last all day and night.

Favourites of mine are the Urban Decay All Nighter and the Gerard Cosmetics in Watermelon (which my clients LOVE the smell of).

I am a bargain hunter and always on the search for products which cost less and work exactly the same as their more expensive competitor.

My sister actually bought this for me in Primark in London to see if I would like it. From what I remember she said it was £4/£5.

My first thought was holy moly, I got drenched! You need to hold it a good distance away from your face- definitely further than other brands. The next time I tried it I knew this so it worked perfectly. There is a lot of product released with one or two pumps so little goes a long way. It dries in perfectly and absorbs excess powder. I find myself using it often now when my skin feels drier.

Would I recommend it?

Yes of course, for that price you cannot go wrong.

Is it better than other brands such as MAC and Urban Decay?

Who knows? It performs well and honestly a lot of setting sprays are relatively similar in terms of the results they produce.

I know there is a ‘Matte’ and a ‘Hydrate’ version available. I am sure the ‘Hydrate’ spray would be class for the hotter weather and if you are feeling a little flushed.

There really is no reason to always spend lots of money on products. In my personal opinion, the reason your makeup lasts all day is due to lots of factors. You will need to have prepared your skin correctly, applied a sufficient amount of foundation and concealer, set the makeup and avoid touching your face all day. The setting spray won’t be the reason whether it lasts or not, but it can make the finish more perfect.

Which Note Cosmetics Foundation is right for you?

Hey guys, I hope you are well. As you all know, for the past couple of years I have been a HUGE fan of Note Cosmetics. Their brand is amazing from foundation to lipsticks and all in between. I could chat all day about all the products I love and use, but for today I am sticking to foundation.

Over the past few months my skin has went through a massive change. Thankfully, there has been a Note Foundation for me to change to which is amazing. Originally my skin was extremely oily. So the first foundation I tried was the Mattifying Extreme Wear Foundation, which to be honest I absolutely hated.

On my skin it was too heavy but that’s not to say that you wouldn’t love it! Absolutely give it a go if you suffer from very oily skin and want zero shine. I think it would have been better suited to me when I was a teenager/early 20’s.

Instead of giving up on the brand. I was curious to see how the Detox and Protect Foundation performed.

Well I was pleasantly surprised! For over a year I basically wore this every single day. What started out as a ‘cheaper option for during the week’, turned into my every day foundation despite what I was doing. I would wear this to weddings and everything in between. As a fake tan wearer, the shades are more yellow toned which suit me perfectly. There are more shades being developed which will only be a great thing for anyone who is more ‘pink’ toned in skin.

I have raved about this foundation for so long now that lots of my family, friends and clients are all using it and love it as much as me.

Towards the end of last year my skin turned really dry and the Detox and Protect Foundation was no longer doing me any favours. I then purchased the ‘Luminous Foundation.’

I have been using this for the past five months now, every single day and I am just finished my first tube. The coverage is AMAZING and it doesn’t cling to my dry skin. What I absolutely love about this brand is how versatile it is. The fact that I can go between two formulas, depending on my skin is just amazing.

The price point is also just brilliant. All three foundations are under £12 and they last for such a long time.

So with all that being said my personal opinion on which foundation suits which skin type is:

Detox and Protect Suits Normal/Oily/Combination Skin

Mattifying Extreme Wear suits very oily skin

Luminous suits Normal/dry skin.

If you haven’t already tried the foundations then definitely give them a chance. As always, not everyone will suit them and thats ok! I also don’t give any advise on shades unless you are standing right in front of me, so ask for help if you are buying them in a store, as I don’t want to guide you wrong!

The two places I buy mine from is the Medical Hall in the Quays, Shopping Centre Newry and McKeevers Chemist Armagh. Have a look at their website for a full list of retailers who stock the brand.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely week,

Love Sarah xxx
