My new favourite product I’ve added to my kit

Hi guys, I hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend!

For the past few weeks I have been trying the Hollywood Flawless Filter from Charlotte Tilbury, after seeing so many Makeup Artist’s absolutely adore it.

As I always say, the proof is in real life when people comment on how fab your skin is looking. My sister actually purchased it too and has been loving it. I use it differently on clients depending on their skin type, so I thought I would briefly chat about that now.

Shade 4

On dry skin, you can pretty much apply this all over. The applicator doesn’t give out much product and I think that’s as you don’t need to over do it and apply too much. A little goes a long way when it’s blended. On myself I apply to my forehead, cheeks and chin and I prefer to blend it onto the skin after moisturising and before foundation. On my ‘no makeup’ days, I have been wearing just this with some concealer under my eyes and my skin looks so incredibly healthy.

If your skin is more on the oily side then I would recommend only applying to the high points of the cheekbones and no where else. This will give your skin a beautiful healthy glow, without looking like oil. If you add this to your t-zone area, then it could be mistaken for oil. On a client with oily skin, I like to keep the nose, chin and forehead matte and add a glow to other areas.

Shade 2

For the past month I have had no issues with this product and I give it 10/10 in terms of what it is meant to achieve.

I mostly use shade 4 medium tan on my clients as they usually have a tan on when they are getting their makeup done. There are lighter and darker shades to suit everyone and it retails for £30.

I will definitely be restocking this in my kit.

Have a lovely weekend,

My skin saviour- a product which has transformed my skin!

Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of posts for the past couple of weeks. I have been super busy as well as not feeling 100% some days, so the blog and all my social media got neglected a bit.

We all know that hormones play havoc with our skin and by goodness pregnancy has completely changed mine. The transition from oily skin to dry skin had me a bit frustrated.

After weeks and weeks of trying to rectify the issue, I decided to try this product. I wish I had bought it sooner, but I was a bit hesitant to try it if I’m honest.

In the space of 5 or 6 days, my skin had honestly never looked better. I am always asking my hubby to feel my forehead which may sound so incredibly stupid to some of you, but I have always had texture on my forehead and then it was extremely dry. Every morning it looked as though I had burnt my face and it was peeling off. Over Christmas I remember it starting to get particularly bad and from then on the only thing that has massively helped has been the Ella & Jo 3 in 1 Hyaluronic Skin Mist.

This was created by Charlene Flanagan (a makeup artist who I have followed on Instagram for a very long time) and Niamh Ryan who is also a makeup artist. They have created a product which hydrates, plumps and sets makeup. With beautiful ingredients such as witch hazel, green tea and aloe vera added, the formula conditions dry skin perfectly.

Personally, I apply it in the morning before my moisturiser and at night after cleansing and before my night time moisturiser. I also spray a quick spritz of it over my makeup when I apply it to set.

I also hold it closer to my face when I’ve no makeup on and further away when I do have makeup. After trying it a couple of different ways, I’ve found that to be the most effective.

My skin literally feels as soft as a babies bottom and I count this to be the reason why. It did take a few days for me to notice any results but the results have been long lasting and consistent.

You also can use this for any skin type to add a layer of hydration! So, those of you with oily or normal skin can use it too! Hyaluronic acid has long been known for being a hero ingredient in anti ageing skin care too.

You can purchase directly from ellaandjo.com as seen from the screenshot of the website above. My delivery came super fast and with no issues.

If you give this a try I would love to hear what you thought! In my personal opinion, everyone needs this in their life and I rate it 10/10.

Thanks so much for reading my blog and if you didn’t see my video on this product on Instagram, then check it out in my highlights section.

The perfect lip colour for Spring & Summer

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a great day and looking forward to more good weather returning soon. When the sun is out everyone is in such a good mood. Everything is lighter and brighter and this includes everything from our clothes, nail colours and makeup choices. A pop of colour is often a must have and a great way to do this, is through you’re lipstick.

It can be so hard to know what colour to choose. With that being said, even if you are very fair or have a more darker complexion, you are really going to love this lipstick that I have added to my kit. This colour is truly beautiful on everyone- if you like colour of course!

If you follow me on Instagram, you will know I am a huge fan of the Huda Beauty Demi Matte lipsticks. The formula is really comfortable to wear with a high pigment that applies evenly. They are hydrating, have a slight sheen to them and are long lasting. If you prefer a matte finish, Huda Beauty also have Matte lipsticks for you to try.

The latest shade I purchased is called ‘Game Changer.’

These lipsticks are available in Brown Thomas, Dublin or alternatively can be purchased online on cultbeauty.com too. They retail for £18 and are absolutely worth every penny.

I highly recommend these if you are in the market for a new lippie. Let me know what you think if you buy one. The shades are beautiful and I am already eyeing up my next one!

Love, Sarah

Which Note Cosmetics Foundation is right for you?

Hey guys, I hope you are well. As you all know, for the past couple of years I have been a HUGE fan of Note Cosmetics. Their brand is amazing from foundation to lipsticks and all in between. I could chat all day about all the products I love and use, but for today I am sticking to foundation.

Over the past few months my skin has went through a massive change. Thankfully, there has been a Note Foundation for me to change to which is amazing. Originally my skin was extremely oily. So the first foundation I tried was the Mattifying Extreme Wear Foundation, which to be honest I absolutely hated.

On my skin it was too heavy but that’s not to say that you wouldn’t love it! Absolutely give it a go if you suffer from very oily skin and want zero shine. I think it would have been better suited to me when I was a teenager/early 20’s.

Instead of giving up on the brand. I was curious to see how the Detox and Protect Foundation performed.

Well I was pleasantly surprised! For over a year I basically wore this every single day. What started out as a ‘cheaper option for during the week’, turned into my every day foundation despite what I was doing. I would wear this to weddings and everything in between. As a fake tan wearer, the shades are more yellow toned which suit me perfectly. There are more shades being developed which will only be a great thing for anyone who is more ‘pink’ toned in skin.

I have raved about this foundation for so long now that lots of my family, friends and clients are all using it and love it as much as me.

Towards the end of last year my skin turned really dry and the Detox and Protect Foundation was no longer doing me any favours. I then purchased the ‘Luminous Foundation.’

I have been using this for the past five months now, every single day and I am just finished my first tube. The coverage is AMAZING and it doesn’t cling to my dry skin. What I absolutely love about this brand is how versatile it is. The fact that I can go between two formulas, depending on my skin is just amazing.

The price point is also just brilliant. All three foundations are under £12 and they last for such a long time.

So with all that being said my personal opinion on which foundation suits which skin type is:

Detox and Protect Suits Normal/Oily/Combination Skin

Mattifying Extreme Wear suits very oily skin

Luminous suits Normal/dry skin.

If you haven’t already tried the foundations then definitely give them a chance. As always, not everyone will suit them and thats ok! I also don’t give any advise on shades unless you are standing right in front of me, so ask for help if you are buying them in a store, as I don’t want to guide you wrong!

The two places I buy mine from is the Medical Hall in the Quays, Shopping Centre Newry and McKeevers Chemist Armagh. Have a look at their website for a full list of retailers who stock the brand.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely week,

Love Sarah xxx

Full list of products used on a client- Rose Gold Eyes

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. One of my most popular questions that I am frequently asked is, ‘What products do you use?’. It would take me all day to list everything and I by no means have a kit as big as other Makeup Artists. But I definitely have built up quite the collection over the past few years.

However, I use a variety off products suited to each individual client of course. As always, never take for gospel that what I list here will suit your face. Unless your skin is 100% the same as the beautiful Stacey’s, then it is important that you choose products based on YOUR skin. With that being said, the eyeshadow, eyebrow products etc are suitable for everyone.

So to begin, let me introduce one of my beautiful clients Stacey.

As you can see, Stacey has gorgeous skin and makes my job very easy!

This was a night time look that I created for New Years Eve (I hope I am right about that).

The face products were as follows:

MAC Studio Fix Foundation shade NC35

MAC Studio Fix Concealer in shades NC15 & NC30 mixed together

Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzer to warm the contours of the face

Airspun Translucent Setting Powder

MAC Dark Deepest Bronzer mixed with a little of Note Cosmetics Bronzer in shade 30

Illamasqua OMG Highlight mixed with a Sephora Highlight

Peachy Blush from LMD Palette

Urban Decay Setting Spray

Eye Products:

Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette from Huda Beauty

‘Wispies’ Lashes by Ardell

Inglot No.77 Eyeliner

Collection Mascara in shade Black

LA Girl Brow Pomade in Shade Taupe

Lip Products:

Spice Lip liner from MAC Cosmetics

Shade ‘SheEO’ Cream lipstick by Huda Beauty

So that is the full list, to the best of my knowledge! I hope you enjoyed reading through those products, as I know it is one of the things I really enjoy reading from other Makeup Artists.

A huge thank you to you once more for supporting me and I will be back next week with another post.

Love, Sarah
